The Role
We are seeking a hands-on Director of Digital Advertising to lead the agency’s paid-media function across client accounts, platforms, and markets.
As an agency that specializes in local services, it is important that you have experience outside of selling products.
You will define the direction, standards, and operating approach for advertising across Google, Meta, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and other relevant platforms. You will be accountable for portfolio-level performance, campaign quality, budget discipline, attribution, forecasting, and continuous improvement.
This role goes beyond managing individual campaigns. You will guide the specialists responsible for execution, establish clear performance expectations, identify risks and growth opportunities, and advise leadership on advertising strategy and investment decisions.
You will remain close enough to the work to review campaign structures, diagnose performance issues, and support complex accounts, but your primary responsibility will be to build a disciplined and scalable advertising function.
What You’ll Work On:
- Own the overall strategy, standards, and performance of the agency’s digital advertising function
- Develop portfolio-level strategies across search, display, retargeting, and paid social
- Guide budget allocation, forecasting, channel selection, bidding, and performance targets
- Review campaign strategies and lead intervention on priority, complex, or underperforming accounts
- Establish consistent standards for campaign planning, testing, tracking, optimization, and reporting
- Lead and develop specialists responsible for campaign execution
- Improve the connection between advertising, creative, landing pages, CRM, lead handling, and sales outcomes
- Build attribution and measurement frameworks for online sales and offline service conversions
- Advise leadership and senior stakeholders on risks, investment decisions, and growth opportunities
- Build repeatable systems that improve advertising quality, scalability, and financial performance
You will be encouraged to:
- Take full accountability for advertising performance across the portfolio
- Make decisions based on evidence, commercial judgment, and financial discipline
- Identify risks and opportunities before they become urgent
- Balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical judgment
- Recommend when campaigns should be expanded, restructured, paused, or discontinued
Tools & Technical Mastery
Strong candidates demonstrate advanced proficiency in:
- Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, and Pinterest Ads
- Search, display, retargeting, paid social, and multi-channel campaign strategy
- Budget allocation, forecasting, bidding, and cost control
- Campaign architecture, audience strategy, A/B testing, and conversion optimization
- Full-funnel attribution, conversion tracking, and offline conversion measurement
- Analytics, reporting, dashboarding, and spreadsheet-based financial analysis
- Campaign quality control, documentation, and review systems
- Team leadership, coaching, delegation, and senior stakeholder communication
A strong understanding of how positioning, creative, targeting, and sales processes influence advertising performance is essential.
We value deep technical expertise paired with commercial judgment and leadership maturity.
Who This Role Is For
Strong candidates typically:
- Have at least 8 years of experience in digital advertising, paid media, performance marketing, or a related field
- Have led a paid-media team, function, portfolio, or major multi-account program
- Have managed significant advertising budgets with strong financial discipline
- Can define strategy at both account and portfolio level
- Have established campaign standards, quality controls, and repeatable processes
- Can guide and improve the work of other advertisers and specialists
- Understand both online sales and offline service-based lead generation
- Are experienced in attribution, experimentation, forecasting, and conversion optimization
- Can translate complex performance data into clear business recommendations
- Demonstrate leadership, accountability, maturity, and fluent professional English
A related degree or certification is valuable, but demonstrated leadership, technical depth, and measurable results are more important.

What You’ll Gain
- The opportunity to shape and lead the agency’s digital advertising capability
- Exposure to international clients, markets, and major advertising platforms
- Recognition and financial rewards tied to measurable contribution
- Long-term leadership and career-development opportunities
- A positive, supportive, and low-drama working environment
- Flexibility around genuine personal, family, and holiday needs
How We Evaluate Fit
We care less about certifications and more about demonstrated leadership, judgment, and measurable results.
We will evaluate:
- The scale and complexity of advertising portfolios you have led
- Your ability to improve ROI, manage budgets, and control costs
- Your experience establishing strategy, standards, and operating systems
- Your ability to lead and improve the work of advertising specialists
- Your understanding of attribution, forecasting, and full-funnel performance
- Your ability to balance director-level leadership with hands-on technical judgment
- Evidence of measurable outcomes from previous work
The process includes:
- Résumé or LinkedIn profile review
- A short video introduction
- A conversation focused on advertising leadership, portfolio strategy, commercial judgment, and performance accountability
- Review of relevant campaign results or case studies
- A paid practical assignment
