Reports to:Founder (American) / Operations & Systems Lead

Design Marketing Studio is forming the Bandung Intelligence Hub, a captive AI operations studio built to support a high-performing US digital marketing agency serving US-based architects, interior designers, and design-led brands. The Hub is being built to deliver high-quality work reliably for the US market, with clear performance standards, real responsibility, and long-term financial upside for those who contribute meaningfully. Learn more about the Hub here.

This internship is not observational. It is designed for engineering students who want real exposure to how systems, decisions, and leverage operate inside a US-facing business.

The Internship

We are looking for ITB engineering students who want more than a résumé line.

Over two intensive months, you will work on real operational and systems problems inside the Intelligence Hub. You will observe how work flows, where friction accumulates, and how structured thinking can reduce cognitive load and increase reliability.

This is hands-on, high-expectation work. You will not be shadowing. You will be building.

What You’ll Work On

  • Mapping real workflows across people, tools, and timelines
  • Identifying inefficiencies, coordination gaps, and repeat errors
  • Designing lightweight process improvements
  • Assisting in building documentation that reduces ambiguity
  • Supporting simple automation experiments (where appropriate)
  • Exploring practical applications of AI (LLMs, workflow augmentation, structured data extraction) to reduce cognitive load and improve decision quality
  • Learning how decisions are made under uncertainty

You will be encouraged to:

  • Make structured assumptions
  • Ask high-leverage clarifying questions
  • Propose improvements with clear tradeoffs
  • Ship small, practical solutions instead of overbuilding

Who This Internship Is For

This internship is intended for ITB students in:

  • Teknik Informatika (STEI ITB) — especially students interested in systems, software engineering, data, or information systems
  • Teknik Industri (ITB) — especially students with interest in operations research, process optimization, or systems modeling
  • Related analytical engineering disciplines with strong systems orientation

Strong candidates tend to:

  • Enjoy simplifying complex systems
  • Think in terms of feedback loops and constraints
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity
  • Prefer ownership over instruction
  • Want exposure to real business mechanics, not classroom simulations

Continuation Path

At the end of the two-month period, select interns may be invited to continue during the academic semester at approximately 12 hours per week.

Continuation is performance-based and designed for students who demonstrate:

  • Judgment under uncertainty
  • Reliability
  • Structured thinking
  • Increasing autonomy

High-performing interns may be considered for long-term roles within the Bandung Intelligence Hub after graduation.

What You’ll Gain

  • Direct exposure to founder-level decision-making
  • Real-world systems experience in a US-market context
  • Practical understanding of operations, leverage, and automation
  • Accelerated responsibility compared to typical internships

How We Evaluate Fit

We care less about GPA and more about how you:

  • Think
  • Structure problems
  • Handle incomplete information
  • Learn quickly

The process includes:

  • A short written submission about a system you’ve improved (academic or real)
  • A brief paid assignment
  • A conversation focused on reasoning and tradeoffs
